Rare Element Resources (CVE:RES) reported Wednesday that it has appointed Paul Schlauch as director of the company and Norman Anderson as non-executive chairman.
Paul Schlauch replaces Stephen Quin as director. Quin stepped down to lead the development of a new gold project in the United States.
Mr. Schlauch has more than 35 years of experience in legal matters pertaining to the mining industry. He has assisted in the structuring of joint ventures, mineral property purchases and sales, ore sales agreements, co-operative operating agreements, and corporate acquisitions and mergers.
He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Denver University School of Law, where he has taught courses on international mineral law and policy, and holds an appointment as an Honorary Lecturer and Course Director at the Faculty of the Center for Energy, Petroleum and Minerals Law and Policy at the University of Dundee, Scotland.
The board has also announced the appointment of Norman Anderson as non-executive chairman to the board of directors.
Anderson has been a director of Rare Element since it acquired the Bear Lodge rare earth element project in 2003, and has worked for companies like: Cominco, now Teck Resources, during which time he spent a four-year period in an executive position with Amax Lead Zinc Inc.
In 1978, he became president and chief operation officer of Cominco, and in 1980 he assumed complete responsibility for Cominco's business, as chairman and chief executive officer.
Anderson has also been a director of other mining companies, including Cia de Minas Bonaventura SA, Hudbay Minerals and Anatolia Mineral Development.
