Timmins Gold expands mineralization at San Francisco gold mine in Mexico

Timmins Gold Corp (TSE:TMM) announced Thursday it intersected 11.93 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 4.57 metres at its San Francisco gold mine in Sonora state, Mexico, expanding its mineralization below the open pit and along strike to the east.
Using rigs capable of reaching depths of 1,000 metres, the company has been exploring below the currently planned pit bottom of 240 metres.
Timmins said the returned assays indicate the mineralization is extending in parallel mineral bodies up to 40 metres in width below the currently planned pit bottom, and has shown mineralized zones at depths of 100 metres below.
Assays from this portion of the drill campaign, which utilized deep core drills, returned 4.57 metres of 11.932 g/t gold and 39.62 metres of 1.613 g/t gold in hole TF-1280; 4.5 metres grading 2.219 g/t gold in hole TFD-90, while at a depth of 421.5 metres, in hole TFD-80, Timmins intersected 1.5 metres of 3.097 g/t gold.
Core drilling continuing along strike in a zone 600 metres to the east of the pit returned values as high as 25.5 metres of 1.908 g/t gold in hole TFD-71, the company said.
These positive drill results have prompted Timmins to expand its ongoing drill program to cover another 400 metres to the east of the pit to determine the extent of the mineralization.
In addition, drilling around the existing pit in a zone 2 kilometres east-west, by 1 kilometre north-south returned further encouraging results.
Aside from the above hole TF-1280, this drilling program also returned 6.09 metres grading 4.27 g/t gold in hole TF-1099; 10.67 metres grading 1.62 g/t gold in hole TF-1100; 7.62 metres grading 1.52 g/t gold in hole TF-1117; and 6.1 metres of 2.28 g/t gold in hole TF-1119.
Meanwhile, hole TF-1168 had multiple intercepts, including 6.1 metres grading 1.65 g/t gold, 7.62 metres grading 1.43 g/t gold, and 4.57 metres grading 8.31 g/t gold, including 1.53 metres grading 24.63 g/t gold.
The results reported today formed part of the 38,623 metres of reverse circulation (RC) drilling and 10,015 metres of core drilling that was completed during the four months ending in June.
The Vancouver, B.C.-based company said it believes further drilling could lead to a significant increase in the mineral resource at the San Francisco property, and to the discovery of additional satellite deposits within its existing land package.
Timmins has hired an independent company to conduct an updated reserve and resource estimate, which will incorporate results from over 85,000 metres of drilling conducted from last June to July this year.
