Pro Minerals moves to Phase II exploration at Disco VMS copper-zinc-gold-silver projectpro mi

Pro Minerals (TSX-V: PRM) has completed the first phase of exploration on its Disco (Discovery) Lake VMS Project in Ontario, and initiated Phase 2 ahead of schedule.

The Phase 1 program consisted of line cutting, borehole and surface geophysical surveys, which will carry on into the second phase of exploration. The transition straight into phase 2, which will consist mainly of prospecting and sampling of existing showings in order to prepare for a follow-up drill program, was made possible by this winter’s atypically warm weather in the Disco Lake region.

The Disco project, which is located in the East Uchi – Petawanga Lake area of Ontario, consists of 34 claims, or 11,944 acres, spanning roughly 16.2 kilometers North to South and 12.4 kilometres East to West. The primary target commodities are copper, zinc, gold and silver.

Pro Minerals said that the VMS (volcanic massive sulphide) prospects hosted by the project had high potential for significant gold and silver credits. The company has obtained all digital data previously completed by Falconbridge and Noranda Exploration in the 1990s.

Pro Minerals added that plotting of the alteration data indicates most of the previous drilling was targeted towards the weaker areas of alteration and broad areas of strong alteration remained untested and none of the previous exploration companies on the property assayed for gold “in any systematic manner".

Late last month, the company said that it had completed line cutting and geophysics on the 100% owned Shining Tree gold project. The project, which covers approximately 80 hectares in the Churchill District, certainly has the right address, located near Kirkland Lake, Ontario and is part of the considerably larger Abitibi greenstone belt which runs through Ontario and Quebec and is host to several world class underground gold mines and many gold-copper-zinc-silver deposits.
