ABM Resources drilling intercepts higher grades, potentially linking Buccaneer to Empress zone

ABM Resources (ASX: ABU) has received high grade results from extension drilling at the flagship Buccaneer Gold Porphyry in the Northern Territory, with the intriguing possibility of a connection between the main Buccaneer Deposit and the Empress Zone.

The company has extended the Buccaneer Gold Porphyry, part of the Twin Bonanza Gold Camp Project, with drilling to the south-east returning high grade results.

Best results from the latest round of drilling were 202 metres at 0.65 grams per tonne (g/t) gold including 26 metres at 2.9g/t gold, which contains 18 metres at 4.05g/t gold.
The higher grade results are along with long intercepts of typical porphyry style mineralisation.

Managing director Darren Holden said, “The latest round of results from the 1.67 million ounce gold Buccaneer Porphyry Deposit potentially link the main Buccaneer Deposit to the Empress Zone.

“We consider this potentially additive to the overall system at Buccaneer.”

Further drilling is underway at Buccaneer, with plans to infill the south-eastern extensions to resource status in 2011.

The Buccaneer Porphyry Gold Deposit is the only intrusion related and hosted gold resource deposit identified to date in the Tanami region. Gold is hosted in quartz veins and fractures, and is associated with other minerals such as arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite.
