Synchronica & Philippines’ largest mobile operator Smart Communications launch push-email service

Synchronica (LON:SYNC) continues to expand both its pipeline and the size of its addressable market, with yet another new contract with a major mobile operator in the emerging markets.

In a deal with the Philippines' largest mobile operator, Smart Communications, Synchronica will facilitate push-email service. Smart’s GoMail service is based on Synchronica's Mobile Gateway ‘middleware’. The company highlighted Mobile Gateway's ‘100% device compatibility’, and said GoMail will be available to all of Smart’s subscribers.

"Being able to provide push email to any of our 45.3-million customers was a compelling prospect for Smart," Smart’s Head of Wireless Consumer Division, Danilo Mojica commented. “Synchronica's Mobile Gateway was the ideal choice to power GoMail, giving our subscribers a user-friendly way of sending and receiving email on any kind of handset."
The mobile operator is launching GoMail with two subscription options, at US$4.45 per month or US$0.45 per day.

"We're really pleased that Smart chose our award-winning Mobile Gateway to bring their innovative GoMail push email service to market,” Synchronica chief executive Carsten Brinkschulte commented.

“Synchronica's Mobile Gateway has been designed for markets like the Philippines, where operators are increasingly introducing addictive data services to the mass-market as a means of increasing ARPU levels, and combating churn."

With its ‘recurring revenue’ focused business model, which typically sees the company receive a proportion of subscription fees from operators, Synchronica has been building considerable sale momentum. Today’s deal represents the company’s third new market in August alone.

Earlier this month Synchronica launched an instant messaging (IM) service in Argentina, alongside TelefĂłnica’s (MSE: TEF, NYSE:TEF) Movistar Argentina business, and its co-developed MessagePhone product – which comes pre-loaded with Mobile Gateway – was also launched across Latin America, by an operator with over 20 million subscribers.

Overall, Synchronica now has relationships with more than 40 mobile operators, with over 600 million end-users, and the addressable market for its products exceeds 800 million potential users.

Synchronica develops industry-standard mobile push email and synchronization products. Its portfolio includes the flagship Mobile Gateway product and the device Backup solution, Mobile Backup. Mobile operators in emerging and developed markets use Synchronica's white-labelled products to offer their consumer and business subscribers mobile email, PIM synchronization, and backup and restore services.
