Breakaway Resources (ASX: BRW) has hit precious and base metals in just the first hole at Surprise Ridge, which is part of the Eloise Exploration Project in Queensland.
The new intercept highlights returned down-dip of existing mineralisation included:
- 1 metre at 31.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 7.10g/t silver from 114 metres; and
- 5 metres at 3.32% zinc, 1.85% lead, 30.4g/t silver, 0.38% copper, 0.14g/t gold from 116 metres.
Importantly at Surprise Ridge mineralisation remains open both down-dip and to the north with more results expected in seven to ten days, with Breakaway already planning extension drilling at the prospect as part of the current campaign.
Surprise Ridge is the first of four priority targets to be tested by a 5,000 metre reverse circulation drilling program at Eloise, with drilling already completed at Roberts Creek located ten kilometres away, with results to be received before the end of the month.
Drilling is currently continuing at Sandy Creek target.
David Hutton, managing director, was very pleased with the results and added, “The polymetalic nature and geological setting of the Surprise Ridge intercepts suggest that a larger mineralised system maybe present, that with further exploration, could deliver both copper – gold and silver – lead – zinc results."
