Breakaway Resources (ASX: BRW) is gathering exploration momentum on several fronts at the Eloise Exploration Project, extending the polymetallic mineralisation at Surprise Ridge along with copper gold hits at Roberts Creek.
David Hutton, managing director, told Proactive Investors today that these results validate Breakaway's decision to focus on Eloise, and to follow up a hole BHP Billiton (ASX: BHP) had drilled several decades earlier.
The latest highlights from Surprise Ridge include:
- 5.0 metres at 3.34% zinc, 0.14% lead, 4.30 grams per tonne (g/t) silver from 173 metres;
- 2.0 metres at 1.01% copper, 0.24g/t gold from 179 metres; and
- 11.0 metres at 3.42% zinc, 0.97% lead, 13.90g/t silver from 188 metres, including 2.0 metres at 7.40% zinc, 4.04% lead, 57.40g/t silver.
What is so important about these intersections is that they are just 40 metres down-dip from the high grade previously announced 1 metre at 31.7g/t gold and 7.10g/t silver, and 5 metres at 3.32% zinc, 1.85% lead, 30.4g/t silver, 0.38% copper and 0.14g/t gold.
The company said further drilling is required to the north to determine the nature of the cross cutting fault structures and confirm whether potential exists to extend the strike length of the existing mineralisation.
At Roberts Creek, the company also announced today some significant copper gold intercepts from including:
- 7 metres at 1.13% copper, 0.67g/t gold from 89 metres;
- 2 metres at 2.17% copper, 0.14g/t gold from 16 metres; and
- 1 metre at 0.79% copper, 8.04g/t gold from 64 metres.
Hutton added, “Exploration momentum is building at Eloise and the new results validate our strategy of focussing our exploration efforts on the highly prospective Cloncurry District.
"The recently drilled targets will be reviewed once all remaining assays have been received, in order to determine priorities for follow-up drilling in the near future.”
Adding some upside intrigue to Breakaway is that assays are still pending from the Sandy Creek and Coral Reef prospects - highlighting the potential for more mineralisation hits to be announced in the short term.
The Eloise Exploration Project covers an extensive 480 square kilometres, and is strategically located in the world-class Cloncurry Mineral District of North West Queensland.
