Frontier appoints Chinese representative Vivian Wu

Rare earth explorer Frontier Rare Earths (TSE:FRO) on Monday said it has appointed Vivian Wu as Business Development Director for Greater China.

Wu, who brings more than 18 years worth of experience in the rare earth market in China, will be responsible for developing new commercial, industrial and customer partnerships for Frontier in the region.

She holds a Bachelor of Science and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Wu gained initial experience in the rare earths sector with China Minmetals Corp. where she served in various senior business and management positions.

Most recently, she was the Chief Representative for Treibacher Industrie AG in China, based in Shanghai.
"The opening of a dedicated China Representative office and the appointment of Vivian Wu is hugely significant for Frontier,” James Kenny Chief Executive of Rare Earths said.

“Vivian's broad business experience and her in-depth understanding and knowledge of the rare earth sector in Greater China will be of great benefit to Frontier as we seek to develop additional commercial, industrial and new customer relationships."

Frontier Rare Earths flagship asset is the Zandkopsdrift rare earth project located in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa and is one of the largest undeveloped rare earth deposits worldwide.

Rare earth minerals – comprised of 17 elements including Cerium, Thulium, Ytterbium and Scandium – are used in lasers, magnets and batteries. China produces over 97% of the world's supply, with only few deposits of the rare minerals outside the country.
