Tyratech registers US patents for NO-SKEETO! insect repellent

Tyratech (LON:TYR), a developer of natural pesticide products, has been granted an American patent for a new personal insect repellent.
The ‘NO-SKEETO!’ product, which features Tyratech’s Nature's Technology platform, is now ready for immediate commercialisation in retail channels.
Global commercial and retail partners are now being evaluated for this product.
Tyratech told investors that both laboratory and field trials have shown that NO-SKEETO! Significantly outperforms repellents that use the most common active ingredient DEET (N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide).
The company said the trials worked for various species of mosquito, included those that are known to carry diseases like West Nile Virus, Malaria and Dengue fever.
"Diseases transmitted by mosquitoes and ticks continue to be an increasing problem in North America,” said R&D vice president Dr. Keith Kennedy.

“The number of West Nile Virus cases reported in the US so far this year was the highest number recorded by the Centers for Disease Control in the last 10 years and the incidence of Lyme disease continues to exceed more than 30,000 cases per year.
“We are excited that we have been able to develop a highly effective natural alternative to the products currently available without the unwelcome side effects associated with DEET.
“This also further evidences TyraTech's ability to turn its technology platform into exciting and, what we believe to be, high value products".

Tyratech said it has also filed for patent protection for the NO-SKEETO! Formulation and it has submitted the trial findings for publication in two international journals.
