Brit Insurance promotes Ray Cox as CEO of UK Strategic Business

Brit Insurance Holdings NV (LON:BRE) has promoted Ray Cox to the chief executive officer position of its UK Strategic Business Unit with effect from September 1 2010.
He will join the executive management committee and report directly to group CEO Dane Douetil.
Cox has over 30 years of experience in the UK commercial insurance market. He joined Brit Insurance in 2006 as underwriting director of the UK Strategic Business Unit. Prior to this, he held various senior positions at RSA, including director of underwriting and risk for its UK business.
The role of UK Strategic Business Unit CEO was formerly held by Peter Burrows, who announced his intention to retire in late 2009, and has since held the position of executive chairman of the unit. Burrows will continue to work closely with Cox until his retirement in December.
Brit Insurance comprises three strategic business units: UK, Global Markets and Reinsurance. Global Markets is led by CEO Matthew Wilson and Reinsurance by CEO Jonathan Turner.
