Central Rand Gold pours first gold bullion from Consolidated Main Reef tenement

Emerging South African gold producer, Central Rand Gold (LSE: CRND, JSE: CRD) confirmed this morning that it had poured its first gold bullion bar from a new CIL concentrate treatment plant on the Consolidated Main Reef Tenement.

The CIL plant is capable of treating 10,000 tonnes of gold concentrates per month. Recoveries to date at the CIL plant have been in excess of 95%.

Johan du Toit, Chief Executive Officer, stated, 'We are extremely happy to have had our first smelt. This is a significant milestone in the Company's trial mining process and demonstrates that our metallurgical circuit is now fully integrated and operational.'

The CIL plant was fed concentrate from the Gekko 20tph (tonnes per hour) trial crushing and concentrating plant. Going forward, the plant will also be fed from a 30tph crushing and concentrating plant.

The Consolidated Main Reef Gold Mine is located near Johannesburg, South Africa.
