Rising star in Indonesian gold exploration, Robust Resources (ASX: ROL) has announced a key technical appointment.
John Levings has been appointed Technical Director of Robust Resources, responsible for all exploration and development of Robust’s gold, silver and base metals projects on Romang Island, Indonesia.
Investors may recall Robust has identified large gold and silver mineralisation on Romang Island. So promising that Talbot Group moved fast to invest in Robust via a placement.
Denis Wood, Resources Director of Talbot Group Investments said Talbot "recognised the potential of Romang Island and was looking forward to supporting the Robust team in advancing such a exciting world class project”.
Levings has wide-ranging experience of both mineral exploration and mine development in Australia and South East Asia to this new position on the Board.
He was founding partner/director of the successful Jakarta-based mineral consultancy MRA Consultants Ltd from 1987-2006. The major clients were Phelps Dodge, Normandy Mining, and Anglo American Corporation.
During his 30-year career in mining he has served in discovery, development, operational and other technical roles in the gold mining industry in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea (Porgera and Lihir Gold), Western Australia (Aurion Gold) and the Northern Territory (Black Angel, Rising Sun, Rising Star, New Hope and White Devil gold mines).
He also has extensive experience in base metals and nickel mining including three years as Project Study Manager for BHP Billiton’s stainless steel materials group in a US$16 million concept study of a greenfields nickel laterite project in Mindanao, Philippines.
As geological consultant to Robust through his Queensland-based company Island Arc Consulting Levings has already played a key role in the discovery of the known significant gold, silver lead and zinc mineralisation on Romang Island.
