Panel manufacturer for desktop monitors, laptops and LCD televisions, AU Optronics Corp (NYSE: AUO), today announced its preliminary consolidated December 2009.
Revenues slipped by 3.4% to NT$37,104 million from November 2009, but soared 151.8% from the same period last year.
For the year ended December 31, 2009, unaudited consolidated revenue totalled NT$359,599 million - a 15.2% year on year decrease.
“… large-sized panel shipments for December 2009… were close to 9.1 million units, a decrease of 2.4 % from November 2009,” the company reported. “… small and medium-sized panel… shipments were about 15.8 million units, down by 13.7% from last month since some applications are in seasonal slowdown.”
However, on a quarterly basis, AU Optronics reported a 2.5% increase of large-sized panels to 27.37 million units, compared to the previous quarter, while small and medium sized panel shipments slipped 7.3% to 60.08 million units from the third quarter.
“In terms of the 2009 full-year unit shipments, large-sized panels reached 89.64 million units, up 12.5% from 2008.
