African Queen gets NI43-101 technical report for King Solomon gold project

African Queen Mines (TSX-V: AQ) has received the initial technical report, in accordance with NI43-101, for its King Solomon gold project in Mozambique. The report concludes that King Solomon is a property of merit, recommending a 3,000m reconnaissance diamond drilling program covering a number of key targets.

The report, which contains a detailed overview of the history, geology and prior work programs, was independently prepared by PAC Geological Consulting of Vancouver.

The recommended work program comprises a first phase of 2,000m, drilling together with induced polarization ground geophysics, related laboratory and other exploratory work. The second phase of 1,000m drilling would follow on a contingent basis.

African Queen said that preparations are now underway, to commence the initial 2,000m drilling as soon as practicable, targeting April with the easing of Mozambique’s rainy season.

The project is being developed under an earn-in and joint venture agreement, from July 2009, with Swiss-based Opti Metal Trading, African Queen can earn an 85% interest in the exploration license and related King Solomon project by funding prescribed stages from exploration through feasibility. The License covers an area of approximately 230 square kilometres in the center of the Fingoe Belt, adjacent to a permit covering 150 square kilometres, which is the subject of a separate agreement between the company and African Eagle Resources (AIM: AFE).

The company shifted its gold focus in Mozambique to the Fingoe Belt project in February 2009, abandoning the Cazula gold project in the country after results from trench sampling and limited reconnaissance drilling failed to indicate a commercially viable primary deposit in the area.

African Queen also has diamond projects in Botswana and Namibia.
