Celamin Holdings (ASX: CNL) has appointed a non-executive chairman to the board of directors to help build the company’s portfolio of assets into a business in North Africa.
The Honourable Andrew Thomson will take up the role today.
Thomson, who is based in Tokyo and works as a consultant to Minter Ellison Lawyers, has a range of experience in mining.
He is currently chairman of Athena Resources (ASX: AHN) and Gulf & Asian Mining, and was chairman of Citadel Resources Group until its takeover by Equinox Minerals in 2011.
Thomson’s previous roles include Assistant and Acting Executive Secretary of the Inspection Panel with World Bank, investigating developing world projects, and investment banker at Credit Suisse-First Boston, where he was focused on Japanese equities and fixed income funds and commodity-based derivatives.
His experience in a range of fields will help to strengthen Celamin’s board of directors as the company works to build its portfolio of project and develop its existing assets in Tunisia and Algeria.
The company’s immediate focus is the Bir El Afou Phosphate Project in Tunisia, held in partnership with local company Tunisian Mining Services SA, with a pre-feasibility study completed and delineation work ongoing.
In addition, Celamin is working towards a due diligence drilling program for its farm in to an Exploitation Permit at the Oued El Kabir precious and base metal project in Algeria.
