Dragon Mining hits high-grade gold at Jokisivu Mine

Dragon Mining (ASX: DRA) has announced the receipt of all results from a diamond core drilling program of the Arpola deposit at the Jokisivu Gold Mine in southern Finland.

The 31 hole, 4,312.4 metre infill program was undertaken to enable an update of the Arpola Mineral Resource and to complete studies to determine the viability of developing an underground operation at the Jokisivu Gold Mine.

High grade drill intercepts from diamond core drilling at the Arpola deposit include: 2.0m @ 15.08 g/t gold; 4.10m @ 7.71 g/t gold; 4.40m @ 24.02 g/t gold; and 3.10m @ 7.08 g/t gold.

The update of the Arpola Mineral Resource which is expected to be completed mid-year follows a similar exercise recently undertaken for the Kujankallio deposit which resulted in the total Mineral Resource inventory at Jokisivu increasing by 12% to 368,600 ounces.

Commenting on the results, Executive Chairman Peter Cordin said “we are very pleased with the further high grade intercepts and with the progress of the underground mine studies."

"Early indications are that a transition to underground, encompassing both the Kujankallio and Arpola deposits, is an attractive development which could commence early in 2011,” he added.
