Sunridge Gold Corp. (CVE:SGC) announced Wednesday the latest drill results from the Emba Derho copper-zinc-gold deposit at its Asmara project in Eritrea, extending the known mineralization and intercepting significant widths and grades.
Emba Derho is one of three deposits that make up the Asmara North project, which is part of the larger Asmara property. Emba is a large volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit, which has a surface gold zone, underlain by zinc and copper areas.
Highlights from the current 5,000 metre diamond drill program at the deposit included 47.25 metres at 1.89% copper and 80.25 metres at 1.17% copper in hole ED-268-D; and 90.54 metres averaging 5.49% zinc, including 24 metres averaging 7.34% zinc and 35 metres averaging 6.44% zinc in hole ED-271-D.
Other notable results included 142.79 metres of 5.16% zinc, including 26.8 metres of 8.63% zinc in hole ED-273-D; and 32.35 metres of 1.72% copper in hole ED-274-D.
Sunridge said that holes 268, 271, and 273 were successful in extending the mineralized zone at the main Emba structure for another 50 to 70 metres, while hole 274 managed to confirm the copper and zinc grades of the three Emba structures at depth.
The company also said that hole ED-276-D, which returned 17.4 metres of 1.17% copper and 4.93% zinc, expanded mineralization about 50 metres along strike to the northeast.
The new data will be used in the ongoing pre-feasibility study at Asmara North, which includes Emba Derho, and the nearby Adi Nefas and Gupo Gold deposits.
Sunridge, with $18.5 million of cash on hand, is focused on base and precious metal projects in Eritrea and Madagascar.
