Plant Impact puts COO Thompson in charge of R&D

Novel pesticides and plant nutritional products developer Plant Impact PLC (AIM PIM.LSE) said chief operating officer Bill Thompson has assumed responsibility for the management of the group’s Research and Development department, including the relationship with CEM Analytical Services Ltd and tecsolve (UK) Ltd, along with universities, customer technical partners and other collaborators.

Thompson replaces David Marks in this role following the company terminating Marks' employment as chief technical officer.

Plant Impact announced earlier this month that it signed a long-term research and development collaboration deals with CEM and tecsolve in order to boost resources as it moves from its research phase to the full commercialisation of its existing technologies.
As a direct result of this, the company has strengthened its project management and de-emphasised its basic research capability.

CEO Pater Blezard commented: "The development of our technologies into real products quickly and efficiently is the key to commercial success. We have been working closely with CEMAS/tecsolve for a number of years and know their teams very well. They are one of the leading contract research organisations in our industry and it is right and fitting that we align ourselves more closely with them to commercialise our ideas rapidly to build up shareholder value.”
