Canada-based precious metals explorer Temex Resources Corp. (CVE:TME) said Monday that diamond drilling is set to soon begin at its Latchford gold project in northeastern Ontario.
An initial 2,000 metre program will test two priority areas, with targets identified from several field programs, which outlined trends of anomalous gold in bedrock. Geochemical and geophysical surveys also found coincident high priority anomalies that will be the focus of the upcoming work.
The Latchford project began after the prospecting of vein-style bonanza gold mineralization in a block of rock, known as the Brett Boulder. A field program on the site in 2004 found several drill targets, while further to the south, priority exploration areas were identified at the Rib Lake property.
The second area of focus for the upcoming program is located five kilometres north of the Brett Boulder, and was first found in 2009, when prospecting discovered multiple new gold-in-bedrock occurences. Selective grab samples returned gold results ranging from 0.51 grams per tonne (g/t) to 11.97 g/t, from structures up to several centimetres wide.
Recent follow up work also expanded this trend to the south and east, with gold values from samples returning 112.29 g/t, 49.75 g/t, 11.64 g/t and 9.14 g/t, among other high grades.
Temex said the surface extent of the anomalous gold trend has now been expanded to at least 1.5 kilometres by 500 metres, and is associated with anomalous copper, silver and iron oxide mineralization.
Aside from Latchford, Temex is focused on expanding its NI 43-101 compliant gold resource at the Juby Gold project, with an updated resource estimate planned for this fall.
