Vancouver-based Tasman Metals (CVE:TSM), a junior rare earth explorer, reported Monday that it has appointed Jim Powell as vice president of corporate development.
Under his new role, Mr. Powell will be responsible for advancing and executing corporate strategy, co-ordinating investor relations and furthering general corporate development opportunities.
In the past seven years, Powell has been involved in equity research with his most recent position as research analyst, covering the rare earth element and strategic metals space at Laurentian Bank Securities.
"As an analyst with Laurentian Bank Securities, Jim was early into the rare earth element industry, and has commented widely on the fundamentals and drivers that have created such a strong investment opportunity,” said Mark Saxon, Tasman's President and CEO.
"Jim's experience provides him with a strong network across investors, potential producers and consumers throughout the rare earth element space."
Tasman Metals is a mineral explorer and development company focused on rare earth elements in the European region.
The company’s flagship project, Norra Karr, situated in southern Sweden, holds an inferred resource of 60.5 million tonnes averaging 0.54% total rare earth oxides, with 53% heavy rare earth oxides. About 95% of the world’s rare earth element supply is currently sourced from China.
