GeoMega nominates Patrick Godin as new chairman

Geomega Resources (CVE:GMA) said on Monday that Patrick Godin has been nominated chairman of the board,
replacing Claude Britt.

Goding has been COO and VP of Stornoway Diamond (TSE:SWY), since 2010. Prior to that, he acted as VP of project development for G Mining Services focused on the development of mining projects in the Americas and West Africa.

He is responsible for the development of the feasibility-stage of the Renard Diamond project that rests in north-central Quebec, which is on track to become Quebec’s first diamond mine.

Godin has a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering from the University of Laval, Quebec. Moreover, he is a member of the Canadian Institute of mining, metallurgy and petroleum, among others. Currently, he sits on the board of Orbit-Garant Drilling (TSE:OGD).

He worked as president and general manager for gold producer Cambior, which in Nov. 26, IAMGOLD (TSE:IMG) merged with Cambior for $3 billion.

For many years, he progressed with Cambior’s various Canadian properties in Abitibi-Temiscamingue through progressive management positions.

Additionally, Godin led a gold extraction operation and contributed greatly to the implementation of Cambior's sustainability program.

In a statement, Geomega’s Chief Executive Simon Britt said that “Godin's knowledge on mining project development, First Nations, permitting and Quebec Government made him a shoe-in for the Chairman position.”

In other news, the company elected a new board of directors at its annual and special meeting of shareholders which took place in Montreal Friday, Sept. 30.

The following people will serve as directors until the next annual general meeting: Teo Dechev, Jean-Charles Potvin, Mario Spino, Rene Lacroix, and Simon Britt.

Geomega Resources, which owns 100% of the Montviel property, is a Quebec mining exploration company focusing on finding economically viable deposits of elements needed by clean technologies.
