Ventnor Resources (ASX:VRX) has commenced a third phase drill program at its Thaduna and Green Dragon Copper prospects, to define a copper mineralisation Resource, located 40 kilometres east of Sandfire Resources’ (ASX:SFR) Degrussa project..
This follows a successful second phase program that returned significant and continuous copper mineralisation including intersections like 5 metres at 4.21% copper from 30 metres and 3 metres at 4.47% Cu from 121 metres.
A priority program of 83 RC holes is planned for 11,210 metres and 11 Diamond holes for 2,025 metres including deeper holes to investigate mineralisation below the target Resource depth.
The new program underway will complete planned holes to determine a JORC compliant Resource to a nominal 200 metres vertical depth by extending known mineralisation, from the previous two drill campaigns, along strike, down dip and to surface.
Further holes could be undertaken, subject to successful intersections to be determined by on-site portable XRF analysis to detect the presence of copper mineralisation.
The program will include collection of samples for a metallurgical testwork program to be completed by the March 2012 quarter and will determine the preferred recovery process.
Ventnor has contracted Blue Spec Mining to conduct the full program of RC and Diamond drill holes.
