Armenia-focused gold miner Lydian International (TSE:LYD) has appointed industry veteran Dr Geoffrey Cowley to its board of directors.
Dr Cowley will replace Peter Mullens, who has quit the board, though not before signalling his approval of his replacement.
Dr Cowley has 35 years of professional experience, including significant experience in a range of world class metal mining operations in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union and Russia.
He was chief operating officer of White Tiger Gold from November 2009 until January 2013 and has also been chief executive officer of Maple Minerals and Strikeforce Mining and Resources.
Dr Cowley has a Master's Degree and Doctorate in Engineering, is a Chartered Engineer and holds fellowships in several professional institutions. He has also advised governments on economic growth and expansion, served as one of two representatives of the United Kingdom on the Business Council for Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean and worked as Senior Advisor to the World Economic Forum on African Industrial Development.
