Elementos awaits gold silver drilling results in highly prospective San Juan Province of Argentina

Elementos (ASX:ELT) has now finished up the extensive Manantiales phase two drilling program in Argentina.
The highly anticipated results are forecast to be announced to the market in November - with Manantiales having the potential to host a larger epithermal system at depth

Manantiales covers 97 square kilometres, with supporting regional infrastructure, but what makes the project so interesting is the location in the world class San Juan province.

To the north is Barrick Gold's (NYSE: ABX) 12 million gold ounce Veladero, to the north-east is Yamana Gold’s (NYSE: AUY) 2.9 million gold ounce Gualcamayo, and to the west is Antofagasta's (LON: ANTO) 69.9 billion pound copper Los Pelambres mine.

There is also another Australian miner nearby, with Manantiales adjacent to Troy Resources’ (ASX: TRY) Casposo mine, which has a resource of 0.4 million gold ounces and 17 million silver ounces.

The drilling program

Phase two included 34 diamond holes for 5600 metres, broken down as follows:

- Manantial vein; 23 holes for 4330 metres;
- La Puerta vein; 7 holes for 816 metres; and
- Julieta Norte; 4 holes for 446 metres.

Drilling has tested the Manantial vein along 650 metres of strike including the depth extension of the high-grade vein identified in phase one drilling down to 270 metres.

Highlighting the extensive exploration of the vein, the combined drilling phases total over 53 holes for 7200 metres.


New targets already identified

Elementos said that surface mapping, sampling and IP gradient array geophysics has delineated two new targets, Manantial Este and Manantial Norte, located about one kilometre east and two kilometres north of Manantial vein respectively.

A phase three drilling program is scheduled to start in early 2012 to continue testing the Manantial vein along strike and at deeper levels, as well as drilling the Manantial Este and Norte veins.
