Perth based St George Mining (ASX: SGQ) is set to commence a diamond drilling program at the company's Pine Creek Property this month, after receiving a permit from the Department of Resources.
The program will follow up some previous gold intercepts, and will provide the company with an improved understanding of the local orientation of the gold mineralisation.
Providing a boost to the prospectivity of the area, prior to the drilling program, St George conducted a comprehensive review of the historical drill core from Pine Creek using the CSIRO HyLogger technology.
The outcome of the review indicates significant exploration upside at the property, and supports the company's view of the potential for a large scale gold deposit at the project.
John Prineas, executive chairman, commented, "The previous diamond drilling by the Homestake group confirmed that there is a large gold system present at our Pine Creek Property.
"We are excited by the findings of the HyLogger review, which provide further confirmation of the exploration potential of our project, something we have always believed in."
