Tirex Resources submits Albania mining permits, receives local community support

Junior explorer Tirex Resources (CVE:TXX) reported on Wednesday that it has submitted its application for mining permits in the Mirdita District, in Albania.
Vancouver-based Tirex is seeking permits in the areas known as Central Gurthi, North Gurthi, South Gurthi and Letitna zones, as well as Fushe-Arres and Paluca.
Tirex said it submitted comprehensive documentation to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, as well as mining plans to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy.
Further, the company said that its applications received official support from all the host communities where the mining permits are located.
During the past four years, Tirex has spent roughly $25 million on the Mirdita volcanogenic massive sulphide project, and has established a strong local presence that has resulted in jobs and economic activity that is expected to grow further during prospective mining operations, the company said.
Based on work that has consisted of drilling, database compilation, airborne and ground surveys and geological mapping, the company has now applied to transition the six areas into production.
The mining plans it has presented to the government would create long term jobs, infrastructure growth as well as community benefits in an area of Albania in need of investment and economic activity, Tirex said in a statement.
Tirex is an exploration-stage company that explores and develops natural resource properties in Albania. It is exploring for various metals like copper, zinc, gold and silver.
