Dreams reports 30% November e-commerce sales growth

Licensed sports product retailer Dreams (AMEX:DRJ) said Thursday that it increased November revenues from its e-commerce division by 30 percent year-over-year to $18.7 million.

The increase was due to organic growth with the company's flagship site, www.FansEdge.com, combined with an ever-expanding portfolio of web syndication clients, the company said.

In October, Dreams reported a 32 percent year-over-year rise in e-commerce revenues. The company’s e-commerce business accounts for a majority of its total revenues.

The e-commerce unit, which includes FansEdge.com and other websites, has been an increasing focus for the firm.  The division manages over 65 online fan shops, selling licensed sports merchandise from the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, and NCAA.

The company's recent exploding growth, however, is also reflective of its web syndication business, a market which it entered in late 2008 by rolling out "Dreams Retail Solution", a host of e-commerce support services including custom site design, inventory, management and marketing.

Clients of the new platform  include Walmart, JC Penney and Sears, as well as NBC Sports and AOL Sports, and the list is set to expand even further as Dreams' succcess mounts.

"We have realized two straight months of very strong revenue growth during our critical holiday season and are confident this trend will continue through the remainder of the year," said president and CEO, Ross Tannenbaum.

"These results are a combination of continued gains in market share as well as our fully-integrated e-commerce platform enabling our partners to capture a much larger revenue stream than ever before."

During the third quarter, Dreams signed four new web syndication partnerships, bringing its net client portfolio to 67.

It partnered with Major League Baseball (MLB) and Getty Images to operate the online photo store at MLB.com, and partnered with Centerplate and the Miami Dolphins to re-launch the Dolphins' official online store, Shop.Dolphins.com.

Dreams also partnered with Linens-N-Things to control the home goods retailer's e-commerce site, LNT.com, representing the company's first partnership with a home goods retailer.

The Plantation, Florida-based company said it also developed a partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) to operate the league's online collectibles store, MLSCollectibles.com.

The online retailer's goal is to increase 2011 revenue by more than 25 percent to $140 million.
