Zimbabwe-focused New Dawn Mining Corp. (CVE:ND) said Wednesday that two new ball mills are up and running, with each located at its Dalny and Golden Quarry gold mine sites, respectively.
A ball mill is a type of grinder used to grind materials into extremely fine powder for use in mineral processing.
New Dawn now runs 11 mills at four gold-producing sites within three separate camps in Zimbabwe, with a total ore processing capacity of 2,000 tonnes per day, up from 1,450 tpd previously.
The increased capacity is a big step for the junior gold producer as it targets 60,000 ounces annualized gold production by the fourth quarter of 2012.
In its effort to reach this production goal, New Dawn has signed power supply agreements with the Zimbabwe Electrical Supply Authority for three of its four sites.
Currently, the company is installing infrastructure at its fourth site to allow for a fourth power supply agreement.
The Golden Quarry mine, in which New Dawn Mining owns 85 percent, is located within the Gweru-Shurugwi Greenstone belt.
Meanwhile, the Dalny Mine – also 85 percent owned by New Dawn Mining – consists of more than 3,500 claims and boasts a strike length of over 15 kilometres long. The property is situated 175 kilometres southeast of Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital.
The company said the opportunity for development of a number of open-pit, medium grade, bulk mining operations within the greater Dalny shear zone is present.
New Dawn also owns 100 percent of the Turk/Angelus Mine Complex, the Old Nic Mine and the Camperdown Mine in Zimbabwe, as well as an 85 percent interest in the Venice Mine.
