Gener8 Media Corp. (CNSX:GNR), which started trading earlier this week on the CNSX, has announced a host of new management appointments, including Ken Scott to president, as the 3D technology company continues its expansion.
Scott, a chartered accountant and former Partner at KPMG, has worked across many industries including media, entertainment and technology, and has "significant M&A and financing experience", according to a company statement, including completing a $140 million IPO on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
“I am excited to be joining Gener8,” says Scott. “I’ve been watching Gener8’s progress over the past eighteen months and am honoured that I get to jump in and be a part of the next wave of growth.”
In preparation for a busy year in 2013, Vancouver-basedGener8 recently wrapped up a hiring spree that saw it bring more than 40 new employees while also moving to a new facility to accommodate the fast growing stereoscopic 3D conversion company, which now houses 140 employees across its two divisions.
“We are all thrilled to have Ken help us build and run a stronger company," says Gener8 CEO, Rory Armes. "His financial advisory and M&A experience are invaluable. Having Ken here will allow me to spend more time driving our vision.”
Along with the appointment of Scott as president, CEO Armes was also appointed chairman, while CFO Andrew Chan was appointed as corporate secretary. Director Herrick Lau was also appointed audit committee chair.
“These appointments are the first key steps for us as we debut on the CNSX, and the timing is perfect with trading commencing today,” said Armes in a statement released Tuesday.
In the company's new facility with its new team, Gener8 is set to work on a variety of 3D conversion projects for major films being released in 2013 and 2014. Its client base includes Sony Pictures, Warner Bros, Twentieth Century Fox and Columbia Pictures, and as a result has worked on a number of major films, including the last Harry Potter movie, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and The Amazing Spider-Man.
Incorporated in February 2011, the Vancouver-based company describes itself as one of the top 3D conversion studios in the world. It uses G83D, a proprietary stereoscopic 3D conversion system, which it says can meet or beat natively-shot 3D.
G83D renders this virtual set in stereoscopic 3D for every frame of every shot, resulting in what it calls the “highest quality 3D conversion available”.
After establishing itself in the 3D tech market, Gener8 broadened its offering to include data flow management. The company last year launched Cumul8, a cloud-based data management and analytics system that provides filmmakers with real-time insights and control of their productions.
Cumul8 uses technology to manage the distribution of digital data, giving Hollywood studios the business intelligence to drive down costs throughout production.
