Westminster Group (AIM: WSM) announced that its safety division has landed a US$200,000 deal to supply fever detection systems in North Africa.
The contract involves the supply of a number of Westminster's WG520 specialist Fever Detection Systems for public buildings in North Africa and which will be used to screen visitors for flu epidemics so that appropriate action can be taken.
The portable system, which can be used for mass screening at airports, stadiums and public buildings, identifies people suffering from common influenza, SARS and other kind of flu including avian flu, bird and swine, flu by determining if their body temperature exceeds a certain threshold.
“This latest contract award from our safety division, which follows recent contract awards for similar equipment from clients around the world including the World Health Organisation, indicates Westminster's ability and market reach not for only security equipment but safety equipment to clients worldwide,” said chief executive Peter Fowler.
The system can also be used for regular medical screening when not required for epidemic monitoring.
Back in January, the group reported two contract wins. Its subsidiary RMS Integrated Solutions won a deal worth £100,000 to provide a range of security services to the Upper Academy in Basildon, UK, after Westminster entered a four year framework contract with the UK Ministry of Justice to provide security services for UK prisons earlier in the month.
