Eagle Eye Metals (ASX: EYE) has already commenced a new drilling campaign to follow up significant drill results at the Kourouba Prospect, which is part of the highly prospective Dankassa Gold Project in Mali.
Highlighting the potential of the gold rich region which hosts the project, over 250 million ounces have already been produced.
The multi-phase drilling campaign includes 2000 metres of reverse circulation drilling to follow up significant results returned recently during the company’s inaugural drilling program at Kourouba.
Broad gold highlights announced in August from reverse circulation drilling included 32 metres at 0.8 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 78 metres, 12 metres at 1.67g/t gold from 26 metres, and 7 metres at 1.12g/t gold from 16 metres.
Adding some proximity spice to the drilling program, Dankassa is within 200 kilometres of the Morila 7 million ounce project and the Siguiri 5 million ounce project - highlighting major gold deposits can be developed in the region.
Boosting the potential at the project, historical hits include, 10 metres at 5.75g/t gold, 20 metres at 2.17g/t gold, and 12 metres at 1.81g/t gold.
Dankassa is located 110 kilometres south of Bamako, the capital of Mali, and is readily accessible by a sealed highway and gravel roads.
Adding to the infrastructure is that high voltage power passes within 5 kilometres of the project, and a town that services a hydro-electric power scheme 40 kilometres to the south.
5,000 metre soil anomaly
Eagle Eye has also initiated an air-core drilling program to further evaluate the 5,000 metre long gold in soil anomaly at Kourouba.
The drilling will deliver additional geological and geochemical information that will boost the ability to define targets, which will then be followed up with reverse circulation drilling.
In total, around 6,000 metres of air-core drilling will be undertaken during the current program, along with auger soil sampling program to better define the extents of a highly anomalous, 15 kilometre long, gold in soil trend in the north of the Dankassa project.
Potential outcomes
Eagle Eye anticipates the current program of work will extend the limits of known bedrock mineralisation at the Kourouba Prospect, while also providing numerous new high priority drill targets that will be further evaluated with subsequent drilling programs.
The company is also in advanced stages of planning aggressive work programs to rapidly advance both the Korindji Gold Project in West Mali, and the Basawa Gold Project in Liberia.
