Zambezi Resources (ASX: ZRL) exploration success at the wholly owned Kangaluwi Copper Project in Zambia is continuing, with the latest diamond drilling assays delivering plus one per cent copper hits at two different prospects.
At the Chisawa Prospect the highlights included 25 metres at 1.27% copper from 159 metres, 11 metres at 1.25% copper from 131 metres, and 5 metres at 1.58% copper from 87 metres.
The Chisawa program comprised 38 holes across a 3 kilometre mineralised zone, to generate a 100 metre by 100 metre grid, when combined with existing reverse circulation results.
Next door at the Kalulu Prospect where the company is targeting a maiden JORC, the best intercepts included 8 metres at 1.28% copper from 113 metres, and 10 metres at 1.20% copper from 194 metres.
Exploration at the prospect was extensive, with 37 holes for 7800 metres over a 1.2 kilometre mineralised strike length.
The drill program was completed at 100 metre intervals, both between and along reverse circulation drill sections, which will result in a 50 metre by 50 metre grid drill coverage.
Kangaluwi currently hosts a JORC Resource of 23.4 million tonnes at 0.85% copper for 200,000 contained copper tonnes.
Major news flow pending
The latest high grade results have the potential to be just the tip of the iceberg, with an extensive news flow pending in coming months.
First off all there is another 6000 metres of shallow drilling to be announced from the current program, which is expected within a month.
Zambezi has also already kicked off a deeper copper focused program, which includes 45,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling, which will be complemented with 10,000 metres of diamond drilling - with results forecast to be delivered in coming months.
When received, all of this new drilling data will then allow Zambezi to initiate a Feasibility Study at the project.
