Timmins Gold (TSE:TMM) announced Thursday it intersected new gold mineralization during its ongoing drill program at the La Chicharra open pit mine in Sonora, Mexico.
The mineral trend intersected is located 500 metres south of the company's San Francisco mine, and 1,200 metres southeast of the La Chicharra pit, along what Timmins said appears to be a parallel mineral system to the San Francisco deposit.
Notable results from the program, which were derived from a drill campaign during the months of June and July, included 0.816 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 36.58 metres in hole TF-1564, and 0.909 g/t gold over 28.96 metres in hole TF-1541.
Hole TF-1511 returned 13.72 metres grading 1.68 g/t gold, while hole TF-1512 found 1.52 metres at 2.932 g/t gold.
During these two summer months, 16,204 metres of reverse circulation drilling were completed. These drill results indicated that the mineralization at La Chicharra extends down-dip to a depth of 200 metres, and for 300 metres parallel to the previously known gold mineralization.
The ongoing drill program continues to test the mineralization along strike, to the northwest of the La Chicharra prospect.
In Toronto, Timmins' stock rose a slight 0.36% to $2.75 as of 11:31 am EDT.
